The poster was entitled ‘Establishing a resilient social licence to operate: issues and opportunities for the mining sector‘ and highlighted the preliminary results of his PhD research. Using a vulnerability approach, the paper discusses the impacts of climate change on a northern Canadian case study community (Kugluktuk, Nunavut) and discusses opportunities for adaptation. IMPACT AND BENEFIT AGREEMENTS – Presentation to the 2010 Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum Conference
June 2nd, 2010Trailhead Consulting’s Jason Prno spoke to attendees of the 2010 Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum Conference on May 11, 2010 in Vancouver, British Columbia.
His presentation focused on the results of a recently completed research project which evaluated the effectiveness of Impact and Benefit Agreements (IBAs) from the perspective of their Aboriginal signatories. CLIMATE CHANGE – Two New Climate Change Reports Released

Trailhead Consulting recently worked with ArcticNorth Consulting on the release of two new reports on climate change adaptation in the western Canadian Arctic. Climate change adaptation action plans were prepared for the communities of Ulukhaktok and Paulatuk, Northwest Territories. A new article by Jason Prno was released in the November issue of Up Here Business magazine. The article is entitled ‘Hearing the Elders’ and describes the use and history of traditional knowledge studies for mining projects in the Canadian North.
